Is the public equally responsible for the corrupting state of election in Nagaland state?

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
•    Like politician we are equally corrupt. We are no better.
•    We are all stakeholder and are equally to blame.
•    If every citizen is responsible then there wouldn't be much corruption.
•    We are apathetic to corruption
•    Everyone of us are wrong in every area. We need to forgive and seek forgiveness, this is the only way to form Nagaland For Christ, for we have to stick to that.
•    It is people who demand money from the political leaders. as a result, the leaders starts   indulging in  corruption
•    Yes. Cutting across tribes, social status, area et al, The public has restored to expecting cash or other help from the candidates in times of election. This whole system has become a vicious cycle, that the candidates would borrow or steal but would splash as much as they can and when they come to power make all effort to make up for their expenditure...The Public, at least the educated lot should start voting smartly. Vote for those who at least have some kind of social conscious...else continue to dine and wine during few weeks of elections and whine for the next 4 years...
•    The public themselves demand much money from the candidates, taking the opportunity to make some easy money.
•    i)They are selling the votes voluntarily; ii)They opt for hand to mouth stuff instead of focusing on their plights for longtime better solutions; iii)They go for easy money instead of development, employment, etc.
•    Yes, but I think the effect starts from the leaders who fail to provide to the public what is due to them.
•    Voters are public. They fight with each other. It's that simple!
•    Because we are apart of it. whenever we see money we cannot avoid ...and thats where the corruption develops in...
•    We all expect money from politicians to cast 'our' vote for them.
•    People of Nagaland must shun the popular practice during election backing money from the candidates. It is a sign of shame and anti-social elements to the Naga society.
•    Because they also equally share or with the corrupted with the leaders
•    Its the public's appetite for money and their unreasonable demands from public leaders or government officials which pushes the public servants towards corruption in order to make up for the losses.
•    When the public takes money from politicians, to vote in their favor, that is corruption. When village council tells the people to who to vote that is corruption. Thus its the public duty to say all these practice are wrong, but for the love of money stays silent.
•    The public didn't realise the purpose of election hence falls prey to petty politics. Its high time they should put a "BIG X" on all the names of the candidates in the ballot paper, which will indeed have a great impact on the entire system. Thanks

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
•    No, the public are only doing what they are doing not by choice, but out of compulsion. In a way they also hate what they are doing, but what other choice do they have when they have to beg for everything. The public cannot be blamed for how they are behaving, because they are no longer normal.
•    One cannot always blame the publics. The word "Public" is too fluid to have a concrete identity. When the system fails the blame is ALWAYS on public. That is the easiest way out to rid of the responsibility. Who is public? What is the method to guide the public? Who is to guide the public? Public does not have equal qualification to be designated under one category/assignment. What failed is the enforcement system/agencies. Some people/department/institution are paid to enforce certain system! Who are they? And where are they? To start with the enforcement agencies/department/persons should be punished for failing to do their duties. Then the public will follow.
•    Yes, however dirty ‘money game’ was ushered in by those evil minded irresponsible political leaders during 80s to woo votes which still destructs our state. My message to the Naga people is this: Vote out baby boomer generation leaders and younger generation should not at all emulate them.
•    Yes, the public are equally responsible for the corrupting state of election in Nagaland state. They vote for candidates who provide them money to admit their children to school. Some vote blindly under compulsion even if he does not want to vote for that particular candidate. The public don’t know how to choose a good leader.
•    Because no difference between the officers who are corrupting and the public who follows to those corrupted men

Some of those who voted  Maybe had this to say:
•    Because, government officials are the real culprits, in putting the idea of corruption, which the public is at a loose end. As the saying goes, what you sow, so shall you reap, is the mantra of the Nagas, that the common people has to accept.

Others
Both are equally to blame. Teachers, Pastors, Media, NGOs, etc still got to educate public. 95% leaders contest to become rich and not welfare minded. 70% public not far-sighted, naive common folks, advatage leaders!
