
Dimapur, October 7 (MExN): Department of English, ICFAI University Nagaland (IUN) organized its first All Dimapur Poetry Slam competition on October 5.
Guest of honour, Sentilong Ozukum, EAC Medziphema highlighted the changes in the face of human intelligence and digital enhancements and encouraged the young community present to cultivate the habit of reading and find inspiration for writing. Dr S Elika Assumi gave a brief note on performance poetry and Meriponi presented a special number.
Tiakumzuk Aier, Dr Avinuo Kire, Renthunglo Shitiri and Tialila Kikon were the judges and invitees of the session. A total of 21 participants competed and the winners for the Post Graduate category were Tokaholi Chishi (IUN), Abdon Mech (IUN) and MissIlikaChishi (St. Joseph University). In the Undergraduate category, the winners were Nungshijungla Tzudir and Vizolie Khatsu (Tetso College), Isaiah Newme and Reuben Thaimei (Salesian College), and Livi A Assumi (SD Jain College).
The prizes were sponsored by Space M, Octet School of Music, Chumukedima Town Students’ Union, Sovima Students’ Union, PenThrill Publications, Heritage Publishing House, Vice Chancellor of IUN, individuals and from the English Post Graduate community of IUN.
The formal session was chaired by Viboto Kiho and welcome address was delivered by Dr Kevizonuo Kuolie, HoD, Department of English.
The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Neivinuo Dzüvichü.
