International pop and R&B star Iyaz expressed his excitement about performing for the first time in Nagaland, promising a high-energy show for his fans at the Ahibi Fest 2025. The singer, who arrived today, will perform at the Agri Expo, 4th Mile, Chümoukedima on October 18.
The star addressed a press conference on Thursday evening where he said that he was anticipating a warm fan reception. He drew parallels between the North East of India and his own experiences in the North East of the USA.
“The people always have a lot of love. Always have a lot of respect. Always have a lot of support. So, that’s one thing I’m excited for to see tomorrow,” he said. He encouraged the audience to come together and simply “enjoy each other’s company.” He said, “Everybody just come out and have some fun… We have to be a part of something that’s bigger than what any of us are doing. You know what I’m saying? Everybody just enjoy each other’s company. Enjoy the music. I’m very excited.”
When asked about potential collaborations with Naga artists, Iyaz replied he is “always open to work with different artists. No matter where you are.” He explained that the opportunity to perform in new places is an honor, fulfilling his career dream of having his music heard “in every corner of the planet.”
Addressing a query about the possibility of lip-syncing, a concern with some international acts, Iyaz urged fans to witness the performance firsthand. “You can come and see for yourself,” he said. “One thing I can tell you is expect energy, expect character. I expect to see everybody on their feet... You are not going to be disappointed.” He recalled his performance in Shilling in 2024, where, according to him, the crowd sang his songs for him.
Iyaz broke onto to the scene in 2009 with the hit ‘Replay.’ His style, described as ‘island pop’ made waves, topping the charts worldwide with hits like ‘Replay’ and ‘Solo.’ Sean Kingston is credited for discovering Iyaz.
The gates will open at 1:00 pm, Friday.
