JDU censures ‘state of imbroglio’ between NDPP & NPF

Wokha, September 2 (MExN): The Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland has appealed to all the political parties especially, the three major Parties, i.e., NDPP, NPF and the BJP to “walk the talk” on the Naga political problem, and stand united and committed to the issue that is enshrined in their manifestos.

It censured the ‘state of imbroglio’ between the ruling dispensation led by the Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) and the Naga People’s Front (NPF) over what it termed as ‘uncompromising differences,’ especially at a time when the Indo-Naga political issue has entered into a very crucial stage.

“Being the two major political parties of Nagaland, the confrontation on the said issue creates further confusion in the minds of the people and makes the hopes of common persons murkier,” a statement from the party’s Publicity Cell said on September 2.

Stating that nothing should come in the way of the “the greatest cause of the Nagas,” it said that if all the political parties contesting election in Nagaland could prioritise the solution to the protracted Indo-Naga political problem as a pre-poll promise to the people, “there should be no room for misunderstanding towards pursuing for the same goal.”

The party said that ‘time and again,’ it had urged that the ruling dispensation call for an all-party meet on the ongoing Naga Peace process and also suggested measures sending a joint delegation to Delhi to meet the top leaders of both the ruling Government and opposition leaders as well as staging dharnas make their voices heard.

However, the party said its suggestions have been ignored.

As such, the JDU appealed to all the political parties “to walk the talk not only within the state of Nagaland but outside also.” At least for an issue such as the Naga political problem, let us be all united on equal ground and show our commitment enshrined in the manifestos of each political parties, the statement read.
