JDU Nagaland urges for early completion of medical college

Dimapur, May 18 (MExN): The Janata Dal United (JDU) Nagaland has urged the state Government to undertake early completion of the ongoing construction of the lone state medical college.
The Information and Publicity Wing, JDU (Nagaland) in a press release issued on May 18 expressed regret that when all the states of North East India already have their own medical colleges and testing centres, be it of COVID-19 or any other diseases, Nagaland is yet to have one.
While requesting the state government to form a Planning Commission for combating COVID-19 pandemic, the JDU (N) said “the blame game must be put aside” and all sensible citizens of the state must work together rationally for both “short and long term solutions.”
The JDU (N) made the suggestion to compulsorily requisitioned hotels, guest houses, including private and government hostels and ustilised as quarantined centres with proper facilities “either on self-paid or sponsored system.”
It also mentioned that Kohima and Dimapur have enough such facilities and if properly managed. “All stranded people coming from outside the state can be quarantined in a phased-wise manner within a maximum of two months,” it suggested.
It said that the present arrangements of haphazardly built quarantined centres can even “lead to catastrophic end.”
“Nagaland is COVID-19 free at present and the state can be an exemplary if we are all united,” it added.
