JICA Project executed effectively in Mokokchung dist

The Divisional Management Unit of Mokokchung Forest Division of Nagaland Forest Management Project held its annual review meeting for the year 2021-22, at DFO Office complex, Marepkong on April 4-5.

During the meeting, T Aochuba, IFS, Director, Intangki National Park mentioned about the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Project said that it is a very important project for the state of Nagaland. The Director expressed happiness towards the success of the project in Mokokchung district including the plantation activities and further, encouraged all the JFMC members to be self-sustainable in their approach towards project implementation.

The Divisional Forest Officer cum DMU Head Mokokchung, Dr Sentitula, IFS, said that this is the 3rd year of implementation of the Project on the field and mentioned the villages covered under JICA Project namely Changtongya New, Mopungchuket and Mongsenyimti under Batch-I; and Sungratsu, Chakpa, Longmisa, Yaongyimsen, Salulamang and Merangkong under Batch-II. The area covered under plantation is 3,385 Ha and total saplings planted is 5,96,633 under 38 forestry intervention models across the district, she added.

The Project has also developed MIS application and GIS Mobile Applications which enabled filed Officials/FNGO Teams/JFMC members to update/upload data and photos from their respective areas in real time. 

She also presented the case study on water harvesting structures initiative undertaken under Mokokchung Division, providing access to adequate amount of clean water which is important to ensure a good quality of life and its positive impact in all the JICA villages.

Various progresses of work and activities for the year ending March 2022 were presented by the field staff in-charges of all the villages.

The Joint Forest Management Committee (JFMC) presidents of Changtongya New, Mongsenyimti, Mopungchuket, Salulamang, Yaongyimsen, Merangkong, Chakpa, Longmisa and Sungratsu also gave detailed power point presentation of all the works undertaken during the year.
