JSUN condemns January 15 incident

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 21 (MExN): The Jalukie Students Union (JSUN) has condemned the incident of January 15 where a rape suspect was “lynched by an irate youths.” “The accused was said to have died as a result of the fatal wounds he sustained during a mob attack allegedly carried out by irate youths of the community. While not defending the accused and in condemnation of rape it also does not approve of taking law at one's own hand and lynching of the accused, instead of addressing grievances and reporting the matters to the concerned authorities,” a press release from the JSUN said. This act of barbarism in modern society is shameful and deplorable, it added. The JSUN appealed to the law enforcement department and administration to ensure and provide safety and security of the public and take strong preventive measures to prevent recurrence of violence and killings, upholding the respect for precious human lives.
