Kohima College holds 52nd college week cum literary day

Kohima, September 8 (MExN): With the theme “Harnessing your Talent,” Kohima College held the annual college week cum literary day from September 3 to 6.
At the inaugural function, the speaker Dr Ralimongla, Principal, KCK lauded the Students’ Welfare Committee, KCK, for coming up with a theme that keeps with the spirit of the vision and the mission statement visualized by the founding fathers of the college 52 years ago, a press release from Mass Media Cell, Kohima College stated.
“True Education should be an ongoing process dedicated to the progress of life…it is no more just a tool for career building and a degree is not enough anymore,” she said.
She further encouraged the students to identify their talents by trying to recall what activity thrilled them as a child, and what thrills them now as an adult and make them lose track of time.
She stressed on the importance of hard work, precision, efficiency and practice to refine one’s talent once discovered, and on the importance of utilizing it not only for oneself but to help others as well.
“It is these qualities that bridges the gap between good and great,” Dr Ralimongla stated.
The welcome address was delivered by Sungtimen Alinger, Library and Magazine Secretary, KCSC, and the oath taking was led by Shanyelo Kent, Games and Sports Secretary, KCSC.
The college anthem was presented by the Everpresence, the Kohima College Band and a special song was performed by Runole.
An invocation was pronounced by Dr Ketoukhrie, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science, KCK, and benediction by Nchanglungbou. The programme was chaired by Keneilhounuo.
The Literary Day comprised of activities such as poetry, singing, extempore speech, dance, debate, painting and essay competitions.
A kicking-off sports meet cum wrestling day programme was held on September 4 in the college courtyard.
The exhortation was given by Keneilesa Neikha, Associate Prof & HOD History Department, and a prater by Dr B Khing, Associate Professor, Education Department.
The oath-taking was led by Mhiesisekho, Asst General Sec, KCSC, and the programme was chaired by Hilo A Traka, Assistant Games and Sports Secretary, KCSC.
The sports meet comprised of sports and athletic matches (indoor/outdoor), and wrestling matches.
The college-week concluded on September 6, with a closing programme with Dr Avinuo Kire, Asst Professor, English Dept, and member of the student welfare committee, KCK, as the speaker of the programme.
The overall champion of the College Week was Mt Zanibu, followed by Mt Tiyi in the second place, Mt Saramati in third place and Mt Japfu in the fourth place.
