Kohima, August 6 (MExN): A one-day district level training on Routine Immunization Micro Plan and Health System Strengthening was conducted at the conference hall of Chief Medical Officer’s Office Kohima on August 6.
The District Media officer (NHM), Chief Medical Office, Kohima in a press release mentioned that Kohima district full immunization coverage currently is at about 71% based on Census 2011 baseline data whereas “actual headcount achievement is much higher.”
Routine immunization micro plan preparation/update is a routine activity during which health workers visit each and every household in urban and rural areas to identify pregnant mothers and newborn/children for due vaccination. This micro plan helps in identifying unvaccinated beneficiaries and to enable health units to plan for immunization activities. Such capacity building and refreshers training help in boosting the skill of health care workers and staying upto date with changing Ministry guidelines, it stated.
The training consisted of more than 80 participants comprising of Medical Officers, Block Program Managers, Block ASHA Coordinators, Community Health Officers and Nurses from all health units under Kohima and Tseminyu districts.
Dr Imkong Temsu Longchar, State Immunization Officer Nagaland and Dr GR Rio, Dy Dir UIP from DoHFW attended and participated in the day-long training.
The training consisted of various topics on RI Microplan formats, conducting quality headcount survey, supportive supervision and monitoring, safe injection practices, immunization waste management, Adverse Events Following Immunization (AEFI) and management of anaphylaxis, cold chain and logistics management, electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network (eVIN), U-WIN portal, communication plan for RI, Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) surveillance and use of data for improvement of immunization coverage and activity.
Dr Leamnyei Konyak, CMO Kohima gave the welcome address and resource persons for the training consisted of Dr Khrievilhou Nakhro, DIO Kohima, District Programme Manager - NHM, District Community Mobilizer, Vaccine and Cold Chain Manager and partners from WHO and UNDP.
