Kohima, April 9 (MExN): Kohima District Task Force (DTF) on COVID-19 took up various issues pertaining to COVID-19 surge situation in the district during its meeting held at DPDB's Conference Hall on April 7.
A DIPR report stated that the meeting was attended by Minister-in-charge for Kohima district on COVID-19, Minister for PWD Housing & Mechanical, Tongpang Ozukum and was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kohima Gregory Thejawelie, NCS.
Deliberating on COVID-19 surge and district preparedness on the issue, the meeting decided to reactivate the sector officers and wards/colonies on COVID-19 to carry out COVID-19 related activities in their respective areas as executed earlier. The meeting observed that it was necessitated because of the increase of positive cases and moreover to monitor the returnees from other states in their respective areas as precautionary measures.
In this connection, Ozukum said that without the active participation of all wards, colonies and Panchayats the district would not have achieved so far and called upon all stakeholders to continue their supports towards the successful implementation of the existing SOPs.
For effective implementation of existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) on Covid-19 in all the wards and colonies, specially wearing of face mask, the meeting decided to recommend for authorisation of All Kohima Municipal Ward Panchayats (AKMWP) to High Power Committee on COVID-19 to check and implement the SOP especially wearing of face mask in their respective areas and also to penalise the defaulters.
In this regard, DC also informed that DTF comprising of District Administration, Police and Medical team conducted surprise checking to enforce COVID-19 protocol within Kohima town on 5th April, 2021 and defaulters were penalised. He said that DTF will continue to carry out such enforcement drive in coming days for the welfare and safety of everyone.
As entrusted by the State Health Department, DTF also decided to conduct random sampling and testing within Kohima town with some group of people involving their concerned unions and AKMWP organisations very soon.
Chief Medical Officer Kohima, Dr Vezokholu Theyo highlighted on the recent spike positive cases detected at St Paul Training Institute and informed that all necessary measures and close contact of those who were tested positive were taken care.
