The District AIDS Prevention & Control Unit (DAPCU/DISHA) Kohima under Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) today organised 2nd edition of marathon race – “Red Run” for the Red Ribbon Club members as part International Youth Day. 
Kohima Chief Medical Officer, Dr Leamnyie Konyak, flagged off the race from TCP Gate, Kohima. The race passes through Razhu Point, D.Block, Phoolbari, Classic Island and culminated at Kohima Law College area, Officers’ Hill, Kohima.
Dr Leamnyie emphasized the need to create awareness on HIV & AIDS, adding that prevention is the key to halting the epidemic.
Sentimongla Tzudir, District Programme Officer, District AIDS Prevention and Control Unit/District Integrated Strategy for HIV & AIDS, Kohima informed that the marathon race an initiative to engage young people in a healthy lifestyle and physical activities to maintain well being and reduce the risk of lifestyle diseases and HIV & STI.
It aims to raise visibility for HIV & AIDS, promote safe sexual behaviour among youths and increase basic knowledge
bout HIV & AIDS and related services, she said adding that the need of the hour is to come together and raise awareness on HIV & AIDS.
This marathon race -The Red Run is more than just a race, it is a run to raise awareness about HIV prevention, she stated
Dr Chibenthung Kithan, District AIDS Control Officer DAPCU handed over the awards to the winners.
The winners were presented with a certificate and cash prize of Rs 5000 (1st), Rs 3000 (2nd) and Rs 2000 (3rd) for both the male and female categories.
Meanwhile, the 1st winners (both male and female) will represent Kohima district in the state level marathon race.
WINNERS 
Male category: 1st: Sha S- Kohima College; 2nd: Jeet Bahadur- Sazolie College; 3rd: Martemsu Aier- St Joseph’s College, Jakhama
