Dimapur, September 17 (MExN): The Konyak Union (Myanmar) (KU(M)) has issued a statement highlighting the recent interaction between K. Akham Honwang, General Secretary of KU(M), and General Ningkhan Shimray MC, MV of the Longvibu Naga Army, who is also the Coordinator of the Mount Veda Peace Mission.
The meeting, held on September 11, was marked by a discussion on the current state of affairs in the Eastern Konyak region and the broader Naga Nation. General Shimray expressed gratitude for the warm reception and addressed concerns regarding the NSCN (IM)’s return to the area, emphasizing the importance of peace and unity among the Naga factions.
According to the statement, there have been significant events marking Naga history, including the NSCN/GPRN Republic Day on March 31, 2024, and Naga Independence Day on August 14, 2024. These events were celebrated with games and sports for the youth, organized openly by the Mount Veda Peace Mission, reflecting a move towards unity and communal engagement.

He acknowledged past conflicts and the need for collective efforts to address and resolve differences. The Mount Veda Peace Mission, he said, is not only about addressing infighting but also about charity and extending goodwill to all Naga areas.

The Konyak Union (Myanmar) urged all Naga National Workers groups to reflect on the sacrifices of the past and work towards a unified Naga Nation. The statement concluded with an appeal for a practical and honest approach to achieving lasting peace among the Naga factions.
