Kumlong Ward, the new champions of the 2nd Inter-ward Volleyball Tournament organized by Kumlong Sporting Association under the aegis of Mokokchung District Volleyball Association from August 9-11 at Multi-purpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung.
Mokokchung, August 12 (MExN): Kumlong emerged as the Champion of the 2nd Inter-ward Volleyball Tournament organised by the Kumlong Sporting Association under the aegis of Mokokchung District Volleyball Association. The final match was played between Artang and Kumlong on August 11 at Multipurpose Sports Complex, Mokokchung. In the final match the host Kumlong Ward played against Artang in a intense encounter. Artang won the first set 25-19 but Kumlong fought back to win the second, third and fourth sets with the score 25-19, 25-18 and 25-22 respectively.
Imlikokba Longkumer, District Planning Officer, Mokokchung, Government of Nagaland was the Guest of Honour at the closing ceremony. Individual prizes were awarded to Reshitemjen as the player of the tournament, while Sademmeren was awarded the best spiker, both from Kumlong Sporting Association. Limatenzuk from Yimyu was awarded the best setter.
The tournament also witnessed a super spiker contest in which two spikers from each team participated. Akumnuchet from Yimyu emerged as the winner. The tournament was held from August 9 to 11 under the theme “Forging Champions.”
