‘Lack of governance is responsible for slow growth and development in Nagaland’

Wokha, September 14 (MExN): Wokha District Youth Parliament debate and quiz competition was held with a motive to sensitize the students on the importance of acquainting themselves to the proceeding of the House of the Legislative Assembly. It was held at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School Wokha on September 14.
Media In-charge, Yanrenthung J Humtsoe in a press release stated that the competition was organized by District Coordinator, Y. Thungben Kinghen. The parliamentary debate was based on the topic ‘Lack of governance is responsible for slow growth and development in Nagaland’. The District Coordinator in his address highlighted few drawbacks as far as the discipline of the house is concerned.
The speakers of the motion defended that the government is taking into account every problems and aspects that is affecting the slow growth of development in Nagaland. The ruling government voiced out that Naga people is masters in pointing out the government and never wondered other knowledge of problems affecting the slow growth and development in the state. Misuse of government schemes, lack of people’s participation, ignorance to government schemes, full dependence on the government are the major reasons contributing to the slow growth and development in Nagaland defended the ruling party. The speakers of the motion further pointed out that change in the orthodox, irresponsible and negative attitude of the people will ultimately progress Nagaland State.
Speakers from the opposition bench however disagreed and stated that the government is less concern on the slow growth and development in Nagaland. Despite various hardships faced by the people the government has turned deaf ears countered the opposition. The opposition bench pointed out that Nagaland is governed by irresponsible representatives with transparency at the bottom line. Citing examples of the neighboring states like Manipur and Meghalaya the opposition bench strongly criticized that lack of effective governance that exist in Nagaland.
Education, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Political Corruption, Power Supply, Industries are the main areas the opposition bench countered the government.
The debate was followed up by the quiz competition with questions of importance from the freedom struggle to the enactment of the Indian Constitution.
Three institutions participated in the competition wherein Thungchobeni Ezung was adjudged 1st position in debate competition followed up by Wonchibeni Humtsoe with 2nd position and Thungchobeni Ezung with 3rd position. The 1st position in the quiz competition was adjudged to Longshilo K Patton & Ralanthung Khuvung followed by Mhathung Humtsoe & Kimeri with 2nd Position and Thungchibemo Lotha & Thungyani Ezung with 3rd position.
