Legal awareness & literacy in Phek

Phek, September 3 (MExN): Phek District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) organized two days legal awareness and literacy programme in Phek district on August 31 and September 1. On August 31, the programme was organised at Sakraba village, which was well attended by the village council members, students, villagers from all walks of life, and women organization of the village.

During the programme, Akhro, Panel lawyer, PDLSA as resource person spoke on the important aspects and practice of Right to Information (RTI) and highlighted the salient features of Consumer Protection Act and its provisions on rights of a Consumer. Vero, Panel lawyer of PDLSA presented on Lok Adalat and highlighted its benefits. Longshi Ezung, District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of PDLSA spoke on Motor Vehicle Act and Ajong Imchen, Civil Judge and Secretary of PDLSA illustrated on Domestic Violence Act and Nagaland Villages Councils Act, 1978.   The 2nd programme was organised at Phek Government College on September 1, where students and faculty members participated. The programme commenced with a short speech by the Principal of the college, welcoming and appreciating the officials of the PDLSA for organizing such programme at the campus. Ajongba Imchen presented his topic on Ombudsman and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POSCO ACT), while Longshi Ezung, District & Sessions Judge and Chairman of PDLSA spoke on Civil Action matter as resource person.
