Listening to our own voices Save: Amur Falcon campaign

Jalukie, November 21 (MExN): The Department of Environment, Forest & Climate Change Peren Forest Division in collaboration with Wild Life Division Dimapur held a campaign on ‘Save Amur Falcon’ under the theme ‘Listening to our own voices’ on November 20 at Jalukie. The programme was attended by all sections of the society, which includes pastors, village council chairmen, VDB Secretaries, Gaonboras, representative from different organisation in the district, stated a press note received here.  

The programme was chaired by Dr. Sentitula IFS, DFO Peren, in her opening statement said, Jalukie Town better known as Rice Bowl of Nagaland is directly and indirectly benefitting through the coming of Amur Falcon, as humans and animals are inter connected, inter dependent and inter related with each other. Amur Falcon has also brought all section of society together to a platform where everybody can speak out their voices for and towards conservation initiatives, she added.  

Speaking on the theme of the campaign, Mongzung Mpom, Pastor Local Baptist Church Jalukie Town, representing the position of the church towards categorically said, “If we love God we should love the created beings.” Akangna Iheilung Advisor, Women Welfare Organisation Jalukie Town reminded the participant that, “we tribal are born conservationist and we should carry our fore-parent’s tradition and practise towards Conservation.”  

Namgun Hingleu, Chairman, All Jalukie Village Chairman applauded the Peren Forest Department for their sincere and persistent effort towards protection and conservation and also assured their full support with the forest department. Joshua, Advisor, Zeliangrong Baudi spoke on conservation of all creatures in the universe and particularly he mentioned the need to work out Tragopan conservation route and map in the state. Mazumdar, Forester-I representing the Peren Forest Division – Amur Falcon Protection Task Force, shared their experiences in protection duties and also said that unlike other years the number of birds arriving in the Jalukie has increased from lakhs to millions.  

TL Tsanglao SDO(C) Jalukie also spoke on the needs to preserve our resources for our future generation. Satya Prakash Tripathi, IFS Chief Wildlife Warden & PCCF Nagaland spoke on the acts and regulations governing the Wildlife, its punishment and consequences in committing Wildlife offence. The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Akhibou, Asst. Conservator of Forest.
