The additional director said the three main objectives of the seminar are to inculcate a spirit of scientific enquiry and analytical thinking in the minds of young students; to provide a common platform to the budding scientists to exchange ideas and, to nurture a feeling of national integration among young talents from every corner of the country.

Vese said the topic of this year’s seminar has been chosen with a view to portray the growth of science and technology and their applications in industry and to develop scientific attitude and temper among students in particular and society at large.

Referring to a recent survey conducted by a national media house that only 22 percent of graduates in India are employable due to changing industry perspectives, he underscored the need for youth to adapt to new age career options and to re-skill themselves to fit into these jobs.

Vese further said the idea behind Government of India’s emphasis on ‘Digital India’ is to reduce work force in the government setup in a phase-wise manner as 60 percent of the country’s annual budget is spent on salary component and other expenses of government employees. He said digitalization would mean less investment on human resource and more production through scientific applications and techniques to meet the increasing demand of a fast growing population.

District education officer, R Amongla Jamir, delivered welcome address and vice principal, GHSS Dimapur, Viliholi Achumi, chaired the opening programme.
