Kohima, September 16 (MExN): Little Flower Higher Secondary School (LFHSS), Kohima organized seminar sessions on mental health issues for both the students and teachers on September 15.
Seminar on ‘mental health issues and psychosocial management’ was organized for students of class 10 and 12 with Veronica Nriame, Psychiatric Social Worker, District Mental Health Programme (DMHP) Kohima as the resource person.
She spoke at length about anxiety disorders, depression disorders, eating disorders, suicide prevention, substance abuse and other addictive disorders and how to prevent them. The session was attended by 241 students.
Seminar for the teachers was held on the topic ‘understanding children’s mental health and stress management for teachers’. Veronica Nriame imparted to the teachers on common mental health issues which are commonly experienced by the children and adolescents. Significant symptoms and warning signs were sensitized to the participants. She discussed in detail about stress management and measures to promote teachers mental health and well-being. The session was attended by 61 teachers.
A press release received here stated that LFHSS, Principal, Sr Lucy Gangmei appreciated for giving the platform to discuss about the important subject matter and NSS, LFHSS for taking the proactive role to organized the said seminar.
