Mokokchung, February 12 (MExN): The Longkhum Putu Menden today alleged the NSCN (IM) of committing serious “anti-national activities” in the village especially from January 30, 2013 till February 12, 2013 and demanded to take necessary action on top priority basis.
An open letter to the Chairman, Ceasefire Monitoring Cell, NSCN/GPRN and Government of India appended by five ‘Tatars’ of the Longkhum Putu Menden alleged that on “30th Jan. 2013 at around 7:00 P.M. one NSCN (IM) Cadre named Lanulemba Corporal No. 40519 S/o. Mayangmeren Longkhum with two civilians came to Longkhum village and fired 3 (three) rounds of bullet in the heart of Longkhum village while the council meeting was on progress thereby threatening and causing panic to the villagers”.
The letter also stated that on February 2, 2013 at 1:30 A.M “Mr. Lanulemba and Imdangtiba Corporal of Changtongya village came to Longkhum village with four (4) pistols and threatened some of the villagers”. As a result, the villagers caught the two cadres and handed them over to the Longkhum Village Council. The village council while interrogating the two accused, confessed that they carried out their activities under the direction of Maj. Bendangyanger (Chungtia Village), Mokokchung Town Command and “Mr. P. Lipok Jamir” of Longkhum Village, the release stated.
Besides, the letter disclosed that February 12, 2013 at 3.00 A.M, around 15 NSCN (IM) cadres fully armed with sophisticated weapons came to the house of “Mr. Katemsangba (Tatar) of Longkhum Village and abducted him along with his son Mr. Imrongzulu”. “After much interrogation and psychological torture, Mr. Katemsangba was released but his son is still in the custody of the NSCN (IM),” the release stated.
In this regard the letter asserted that “such activity is not only Anti National and a direct violation of Human Rights but also against the Law of the Land”. “We expect your authority to look into the matter with top most priority and take necessary action, failing which we would be compelled to take our own course of action,” the letter stated. The Longkhum Putu Menden letter was appended by ‘Tatars’ Alemwati, Nangshimeren, Mayangchiba, Ramongba, and Forngangba.
