Longleng Administration repairs bridge & roads

Longleng, September 22 (MExN): The Longleng district administration under the initiative of the Deputy Commissioner M Shayung Phom renovated Lasong Bridge between Changtongya and Longleng road.

As per a DIPR report, earlier, Lasong Bridge was in a “very pathetic condition” and was a threat to the lives of travelers for years.

The new DC took up the bridge renovation as his first task after assuming the office on September 10. Renovation of the bridge began on September 18 with a gang of Dobashi (DBs) engaged as laborers for the project and completed on September 21.

The PWD Changtongya also assisted the Bridge renovation. After completion of the bridge, the team under the supervision of Executive Engineer PWD, Longleng Toshi Angh began renovation of Longleng – Changtongya road by filling potholes and repairing the badly damaged portion between Sanglu, Alayong, Yongnyah junction and Orangkong up.

It was expected that the repairing of road will be completed within a couple of days, the release stated, while requesting the travelers to bear and cooperate during the renovation period.

The Longleng Town Students’ Union (LTSU) also visited the road renovation site to give assistance to the team manually. 

In the past years, the Longleng Chamber of Commerce, Drivers’ Union Longleng and civil societies have been repairing the Longleng - Changtongya road occasionally especially during the monsoon season, which is the lone lifeline of the district, it added.
