‘Manipur heading towards the path of development’

Newmai News Network Imphal | March 5   Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today claimed that his government has succeeded in creating a conducive and peaceful environment in the State.   “With the love and support of the people of the State, the mistrust and gap between the hills and valley has been minimized. We are now heading towards the path of development,” he claimed while inaugurating hostels at Khuman Lampak in Imphal.   Biren also stated that Manipur has been “bandh free” since the BJP led government was formed in the state. As such, he appealed the people of Manipur to share their grievances to the government so that the state can march forward in development.   The Manipur CM also highlighted the negative effects of a prolonged Yaoshang festival celebration in the State. In this connection, Biren claimed that the government has received huge positive response from the people to lessen the number of days.   People living in and around Kongba, Thongju, Heingang area have decided to reduce the number of days of Yaoshang celebration to 2-3 days, he further claimed.   “Now the people of the State have civic sense and responsibility towards bringing positive change in the State,” Biren said and informed that Umanglai Kanba Lup (UKAL) has taken steps to refrain from using loud speakers during the Lai Haraoba celebration.   Further pointing to the frequent floods in Imphal, Biren informed that the government has decided to acquire about 470 acres of land in Lamphelpat area for development of water body. Dredging machines would be hired to clean up the area before the monsoon season, he said, adding, flash floods could be controlled with such an initiative.
