The Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) on Sunday help avert a major forest fire in Botsa under Kohima district. According to an official release, Chieswema Battalion of Assam Rifles mobilised a Quick Reaction Team comprising 18 personnel from Chiephobozou COB after it received information about a fire incident at Botsa. The incident is assumed to have occurred due to a short circuit from a loose wire in an adjoining step down transformer near EAC Complex, Botsa. Approx 500 m x 500 m stretch of forest cover was burnt but the timely response from troops of Assam Rifles averted any eventuality and the forest fire from spreading further, the press release stated.
