Mokokchung Cart, an android app launched by the Mokokchung district administration,has been helping the citizens of Mokokchung to order essential commoditiesand medicines online. The Mokokchung Cart app is a zero budget and non-profit project designed and developed by TA& Co. and powered by Trail Hounds Cycling Club (THCC), Mokokchung.
Twenty delivery personnel, who are all volunteers from different churches and youth organizations deliver the orders on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays following strict COVID 19 medical protocols. Ever since its launch on March 30, the app has been successful in helping and providing essential commodities and medicines on order, especially to those people who stay far from the main town.
On an average the app receives a total of 103 orders per day. Apart from the essential commodities and medicines, Mokokchung cart is now delivering fresh vegetables to the customers.
“There are lots of farmers in many villages who are unable to sell their produce in the market. SoMokokchung Cart contacts the farmers and we fetch the vegetables from the villages and stock them in the inventory and start cataloguing and then sell,” said Sentilong Ozukum, EAC, Mokokchung.
“Once we receive the orders, we process, package and deliver the items within five to six hours. We also encourage customers to use pre-paid paying system like Google pay”, he added.
Lanuakum, a daily customer said “I came to know about Mokokchung Cart through social media and since then I order the essential commodities and veggies from the cart instead of going to market which is not a safe place to be. The commodities they supply are of good quality and provide fresh veggies which are scarce and almost a luxury item after the lockdown was declared. It is heartening to see the local youths volunteering to deliver the orders which is prompt and geared up properly with mask and gloves in compliance to COVID 19 safety measures”.
Another customer, Roselinda Longchar also said “For a first timer in home delivery services, their service was thoroughly professional - fresh local organic items packed well and promptly delivered to the doorstep”.
The local farmers and the grateful costumers can only say ‘Thank you’ and ‘Keep up the commendable work’. Addition of fresh meat as an item would be an added bonus, they added.
The backhand process and app monitoring is handled by the Trail Hounds Cycling Club, Mokokchung(THCC).
Its President, Tzudiyong Jamir said that being a part of the Mokokchung Cart was the Club’s solidarity and support to fight against the pandemic and said that the club will extend its full support to the administration and to the people of Mokokchung in whichever way they can.
