Mokokchung, Mon, Wokha, Niuland, and Phek emerged victorious at the 23rd Inter-District Football Championship, Dr. T Ao Trophy, held at Loyem Memorial Astro Turf Ground in Tuensang town on September 18.
In the opening match, Mokokchung edged out Longleng 4-3. Chongshen Sangba scored twice for Longleng, with Yinglemoikhop also finding the net. Mokokchung’s four goals came from Suponglemba, who scored twice, with Sentilong and Tarepnungsang adding one each. Mon secured a 2-1 win over Noklak in the second match, with goals from Y Manpu and M Phoawang, while Komozo Kuotso scored the lone goal for Noklak.
Wokha claimed a 2-1 victory against Tseminyu in the third match, with Renjamo E Lotha and Mharemo Kikon each scoring for Wokha, while Ntsenlo Kemp found the net for Tseminyu.
Niuland defeated Dimapur 3-1 in the fourth match, thanks to two goals from Kakhevi Assumi and one from Honoto Chishi. Shevoto scored for Dimapur.
In the final match of the day, Phek overcame Chümoukedima 2-1. Yhoto Lohe and Johny Ritse scored for Phek, while Merensang netted for Chümoukedima.
