
Dimapur, May 27 (MExN): The Eastern Nagaland Women Organisation (ENWO) has expressed outrage and anguish over the incident where Ahoa Konyak, a student leader from Tizit was hacked to death by an alleged drug peddler.
While condemning the brutal and gruesome act of the accused which only resulted in the lost of innocent life, ENWO has fervently called upon the Government to “grave the menace of alcohol and drugs abuse in the state which has become a threat to the society.”
It urged the law enforcing authorities to impose rigorous and befitting punishment to the perpetrator as per the relevant section of the law. “No leniency must be shown towards such criminal and appealed that justice should be served to the deceased at the earliest,” it demanded.
The Mopong Hongkong Students’ Union (MHSU) in its condemnation note termed the incident as heinous crime and said, “such treats of life even to the lost of students leader is so unfortunate and totally uncalled in the civilised society.” While conveying condolences to the bereaved members, the MHSU called upon peace loving citizens to come forward to fight against drugs. The union asked the law enforcing agency to bring justice with befitting punishment and asked apex body to streamline all possible strategy to ease completely using of such anti social elements.
The Zeliang Students’ Union Nagaland has expressed shock and outrage by the murder of a student leader whose life has been tragically taken away while on duty to curb the menace of drugs and drug trafficking in our society.
The union has urged the investigating agency and law enforcing agencies to expedite the process of investigation, and award the highest degree of punishment to the culprit and deliver justice to the victim and to the Tizit Area Students' Union.
DY CM TR Zeliang also condemning the murder of Ahoa Konyak said, “The ruthless act has left me heartbroken. I appeal to all concern to cooperate with the investigation agency which, I strongly believe, will carry out the investigation without fear or favour so that justice is delivered at the earliest.”
