Newmai News Network Imphal | September 3 The number of Manipur legislators pledging to donate their eyes has gone up to seven today with three more legislators taking the pledge. Pukhrem Sarat Singh, Thanga, T Robindro and Sanasam Bira Singh pledged today to donate their eyes during a programme called Eye Donation Campaign Fortnight organised in Bishnupur district. In his speech, MLA Sarat stressed on the philosophical concept of attaining happiness and contentment when one helps and gives for the welfare of humankind. He also applauded the ‘Inclusion’ policy of the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre, as a result of which such inclusive programmes of different section of the people have been taken up. MLA Robindro and MLA Bira also appealed to the public to know the importance and the need of gifting vision to the visually-impaired ones, and to pledge to donate their eyes. Later, the three MLAs along with many other dignitaries pledged to donate their eyes. It may be recalled that on August 25, Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Yumnam Khemchand Singh, MLA Laishram Radhakishore Singh, Parliamentary Secretaries Dr. Sapam Ranjan Singh and Heikham Dingo Singh decided to donate their eyes for the people who are visually impaired at the inaugural function of the Eye Donation Campaign Fortnight.
