MP S Supongmeren Jamir visits Sainik School Punglwa

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, SEPTEMBER 10 (MExN): S Supongmeren Jamir, Member of Lok Sabha from Nagaland, visited Sainik School Punglwa on September 10 for the first time as both MP and member of the Local Board of Administration (LBA).

During the visit, the Principal, faculty, and students gave the MP a detailed overview of the school’s condition and its urgent needs. They highlighted several key issues that need immediate attention, a press release from the Communication Department, NPCC stated.

The school’s old infrastructure was in poor condition and required urgent repairs. The annual grant from the State Government, currently Rs 25 lakhs, was seen as insufficient, and there was a push to increase it to Rs 1 crore to better support the school.

Financial difficulties were also exacerbated by a lower-than-expected intake of cadets from Nagaland. The school faced transportation challenges due to its remote location, which made commuting difficult for students and staff. Additionally, poor communication and internet connectivity, along with frequent power fluctuations, were impacting the school’s daily operations.

The internal roads at the school were in disrepair and often damaged by landslides. There was also a lack of modern sports facilities, which were needed for proper training and physical development of the cadets.

MP Jamir assured the school that he would work to address these issues and urged both state and central authorities to take prompt action. His visit brought important attention to the school’s needs, with hopes for improvements and increased support.
