MTLT leaders with the Core Committee on Essential Commodities COVID-19 Mokokchung while distributing the essential commodities, April 2.
Mokokchung, April 2 (MExN): The Mokokchung Town Lanur Telongjem (MTLT) today distributed essential food items to the needy people in Mokokchung town covering all the 18 wards under Mokokchung municipality.
The essential commodities such as rice, lentils and flour were distributed to about 1800 needy households in the town, informed a press release issued by MTLT President Imkummeren Jamir.
The essential supplies were distributed to genuine needy people by the respective youth organizations and authorities of the 18 wards, it said.
MTLT undertook the distribution of the essential commodities after obtaining due permission from the district administration and by adopting social distancing protocols and all standard operating procedures, it added.
According to the release, after receiving suggestions from many citizens in the wake of the 21-day national lockdown, the MTLT initiated a fund raising campaign and raised a substantial amount.
With the collection, the distribution was funded.
The list of donors from far and near who contributed towards the cause will be published in due course of time and MTLT conveys our heartfelt gratitude to all the well-wishers for their contributions, the release said.
A total of 9 metric tons of rice, 1.08 metric tons of lentils and 1.08 metric ton of flour were distributed during the drive.
The Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung, Limawapang Jamir also expressed appreciation to MTLT for the humanitarian act, the release added.
