Naga Hoho against formation of Nagaland Tribal Council

Dimapur, May 5 (MExN): With a strong stand against the formation of a ‘Nagaland Tribal Council’, the Naga Hoho has said that it will never be party to “divide the Naga brethren further”.

In an emergency consultative meeting held on May 3 at Hotel Japfu in Kohima, representatives from the Naga Hoho, the ENPO, Angami Public Organization, Kyong Hoho, Chakhesang Public Organization, Zeliangrong Baudi, Pochury Public Forum, Sumi Hoho and Rengma Hoho met. At this “imperative” meeting, the Naga Hoho held that it is well aware of “some vested interested people trying to dissect the sanctity of Naga Hoho and are in the process of creating another platform called Nagaland Tribal Council which is irrational to form at this crucial juncture when things are moving forward towards finding Naga political settlement.”

According to a press release received here from Naga Hoho President, Keviletuo Kiewhuo, and General Secretary, P. Chuba Ozukum, the meeting unanimously resolved that “no one will be allowed to represent their respective Tribal Hohos in any of the upcoming meetings other than those of Naga Hoho.”

“The meeting strongly opined that the Naga people have been divided into many groups/ factions both underground and over ground since the inception of struggle for Naga liberation and this has led to fratricidal killings among the Naga people,” it stated.
