Naga orgs condemn Feb 6 killing

Naga national workers should not indulge in activities which are against people’s wishes

Senapati, February 7 (NNN): The United Naga Council (UNC), All Naga Students Association Manipur (ANSAM), Naga Women Union (NWU) and Naga People’s Movement for Human Rights (NPMHR) have strongly condemned the killing of one A Shepao (28) in Senapati by suspected NSCN (IM) cadres on Thursday. The Naga bodies have asked all the ‘Naga national workers’ to shun such activities. The four frontal Naga organizations further asked the Naga groups to go by the “national principle.”

“They should not indulge in activities which are against the wish of the Naga people or against the Naga national interest,” added the UNC, ANSAM, NWU and NPMHR. The organizations appealed to the civil bodies of Senapati district and village leaders of the deceased to sort out misunderstandings amicably. They further expressed condolences to the family members of the deceased family members.  Meanwhile, villagers refused to accept Shepao’s body, who was allegedly beaten to death by NSCN (IM) cadres. The body is still lying at Senapati police station.  A Shepao, from Makhrelui village, was a native of Tungjoy village.
