The early Naga struggles were remembered during the funeral service of Late Kevitsielezo Phizo, son of A.Z Phizo held at Ura Academy Hall, Kohima on January 18.
Kevitsielezo, better known as Gu-u Phizo, was born to A.Z Phizo and Jwane Phizo on April 30, 1952, the second youngest among the eight children. Mention may also be made that Kevilevor Phizo, the eldest son of Phizo passed away in April 2013.

That year they had to seek refuge in the deep forests at the Barak valley for days where their rations also began to run out in addition to a raid by the Indian Army.
“Many of you here today have suffered in various ways. We have faced such sufferings and many of us are here today. We have gone through and we remember Psalm 91 which we read when we fled to the forests. And how true it is that God in his own plan helped us to come this far and we are grateful to God,” said Terhüja expressing gratitude for Gu-u's life and the hope that he is in a better place.
Known to be a patient, tolerant and enduring person, a family member also mentioned that Gu-u Phizo lived his life as a true Naga encouraging and guiding others to know the truth of our Naga Identity.
