Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2016 passed

The Nagaland Appropriation (No.2) Bill, 2016, which was moved by Chief Minister TR Zeliang for introduction and consideration, was passed by the NLA today on the floor of the House. Demand for Grants for the year 2016-2017 was also passed by the House today. NLA speaker Chotisuh Sazo also made announcement of constitution of the various financial and non-financial committees and panel of chairmen for 2016-17.    

CM presents C&AG Report  

Chief Minister TR Zeliang today presented Comptroller & Auditor General of India (C&AG) Report for the year 2014-15 on the floor of the House, which includes Report of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India on State Finances for the year ended 31st March 2015, Report of the Comptroller & Auditor General of India (C&AG) on Socio, Economic, Revenue and General Sectors for the year ended 31st March, 2015 (Report No.1 of 2016), Finance Accounts (Volume 1 & 2) 2014-15 and Appropriation Accounts (2014-15).  

 PWD (R&B) on maintenance of roads  

Under State earmarked works on maintenance of roads, the state plan earmarked amounting to Rs. 1000.00 lakh will be allocated to 23 divisions under PWD (R&B) as per the road length and conditions of the road for maintenance of various roads in the state. This was stated in the annual administrative report 2015-16 of PWD (Roads & Bridges) department tabled on the floor of the House on Friday by minister for roads and bridges Y. Vikheho Swu. The report also stated that maintenance of roads have been given priority during the current year and accordingly, maintenance and repair works have been taken up extensively under the State Non-Plan which amounted to Rs. 4049.50 lakhs.    

36 hydropower potential sites identified  

Department of New & Renewable Energy (NRE) has identified 36 hydropower potential sites in the state. According to the annual administrative report 2015-16 of the department tabled on the floor of the House on Friday by Parliamentary Secretary for New & Renewable Energy and Fire & Emergency Services Toyang Chang, the department has done extensive survey and investigation of hydropower potential sites in most districts of the state. The report stated that the department has prepared Pre-Feasibility Reports (PFR) and Detail Project Report (DPR) for hydro potential sites. The department has also been conducting investigation for Solar-Wind Hybrid projects. Out of the 13 sites identified and investigated for wind speed, five sites have been identified feasible to generate energy at kilowatt level. The report stated that the department has proposed setting up of Solar Parks in the state. Contour mapping and soil investigations have been completed in one location.    

I&FC dept on minor irrigation projects in Nagaland  

During the 2nd year of the 12th Plan i.e 2013-14, Department of Irrigation and Flood Control took up 155 new projects at an estimated cost of Rs. 11202.145 lakh and CCA of 7606 ha to create an irrigation potential of 8835 ha. The total expenditure up to 2014-15 amounts to Rs. 7635.96 lakh (C/S) with a spillover of Rs. 2445.97 lakh during 2015-16 has been released to the state, according to the annual administrative report 2015-16 of the department tabled by parliamentary secretary for irrigation and flood control N. Jacob Zhimomi in the Assembly Friday. Also, 159 MI projects for an estimated cost of Rs. 10960.347 lakh to cover a CCA of 4489 ha with an IP of 5709 ha was included under AIBP during 2014-15 against which the central share amounting to Rs. 2466.08 lakh and state matching share of Rs. 274.01 lakh have been received during 2014-15 and 692.1 lakh (C/S) during 2015-16. During 2015-16, the ongoing MI projects sanctioned during 2013-14 as well as 2014-15 have been implemented, the report stated. The report also stated all the new MI schemes will henceforth be implemented under Har Khet Ka Paani of PMKSY by incorporating in the District Irrigation Plan.
