The IQAC Baptist College Kohima in collaboration with MasterPeace Nagaland and Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA) today celebrated International Day of Peace under the theme “Cultivate a culture of Peace” at Rivenburgs Chapel Hall, Kohima.
Delivering keynote address, Rev Fr Charles D Souza, Principal, St Paul School Phesama said that “Peace should begin within oneself.” He called upon the people to ensure one’s heart free of ill will, hatred, vengeance, selfishness and one’s body free of physical violence and abuse. “Put God first, neighbour second, mother Earth third and myself last,” he said.
He also stressed on the need to reason together and make peace a daily affair and, “not once in a while affair.” Asking the people to make peace as a way of life, Rev Fr Souza said “Let us create peace together.”
‘Spread message of peace, harmony’
Imnainla Jamir, Global Ambassador MasterPeace COOleaders said that this year’s International Day of Peace also marks the 25th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly's adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace
“We at MasterPeace believe in making peace together through the process of dialogue and co-creation,” she said.
Each one of us is a leader. As a COOLeader, all of us have the power to make small positive changes in our lives which affects our lives, others, the society and our planet in a good way, she said.
“Let us come together and use our talents to bring to the world the message of development, peace and harmony,” Jamir urged.
As we celebrate the peace day, let us also not forget that peace also means living in harmony with nature and our surroundings, and that as young people, we have the energy and power in our hands to make a difference to this world - our one and only planet, she said.
