Kohima | December 19
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio today met the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) team who are currently in the state, studying the demand of Eastern Nagaland People’s Organisation (ENPO) for a separate ‘Frontier Nagaland’ state.
They are happy about meeting with them (ENPO) and from our side we have already set up Chief Minister Level Committee (Fact Finding), Rio said while talking to media persons today on the sideline of an official function at Chiephobozou in Kohima district. Rio said that ENPO had submitted its demand for statehood in 2010 and the state government had set up a Chief Minister's Fact Finding Committee, whose report and findings was submitted to the Centre the next year.
"It depends on the Home Ministry and Amit Shah had met them in Delhi,” he said adding that the MHA team was sent to study the matter. “We hope some decision will be taken,” Rio said. On the other hand, Rio said the elected members of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly had a sitting and discussed that till December nobody should go for campaign (Election) “because we have come together for solution.” Rio informed that he told the Naga groups also that if solution does not come and election is announced, “then we have to participate.”
On the latest update about the negotiation, the Chief Minister said that the Naga groups have come back from Delhi “so I think before Christmas nothing may happen because the talk will resume only after that.”
