Nagaland commemorates first anniversary of AB-PMJAY

Dimapur, September 23 (MExN): In commemoration of the first anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (AB-PMJAY) under the banner "Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara," several activities were conducted across the state in the past few days.
Dimapur: The Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara was celebrated at District Hospital Dimapur on September 23. The celebration was organized by the state Department of Health &Family Welfare in convergence with Social Welfare Department and Urban Development & Municipal Affairs.
Addressing the first anniversary celebration Nagaland minister of Health & Family Welfare, S Pangyu Phom, stated that the AB-PMJAY was launched with the aim to provide access to quality healthcare for the poor and vulnerable sections of society. He said that the AB-PMJAY is governed based on a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of fraud and is constantly evolving the anti-fraud culture in all aspects of the scheme’s governance.
“In order to take services closer to the needy people, the department has extended hospital empanelment upto functional PHCs. So far, 63 hospitals comprising of 59 public and 4 private hospitals have been empanelled,” the minister said.
Further, the minister said for prompt and effective management of any grievances and to ensure satisfaction of the aggrieved party while ensuring that cashless access to timely and quality care remains uncompromised with respect to implementation of the AB-PMJAY, grievance redressal mechanisms are in place at State, district and empanelled hospital levels.
Earlier, Pangyu flagged off the ‘walkathon’ commemorating the first anniversary of AB-PMJAY. The walkathon started from Holy Cross HSS junction to District Hospital Dimapur.
Deputy CMO, Dr. Antoly Suu, in her keynote address informed that a total of 30,344 beneficiaries have availed the scheme amounting to Rs. 1,75,63,680 in Dimapur district.
Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, K Kevin Zehol also spoke on the occasion. Chief medical officer, Dimapur, Dr. K Vikato Kinimi, delivered welcome address and medical superintendent, District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Z Kheshito Zhimo, chaired the programme.
Phek: The District Health Society Phek in collaboration with the NULM, Urban Development Municipal Affairs and Social Welfare departments organised a walkathon from DC Police point to District Hospital Phek.
The walkathon was flagged off by Sachin Jaiswal (IAS), Deputy Commissioner Phek. Jaiswal in his speech called upon the participants to avail the PMJAY scheme and also mentioned the need to increase the number of PMJAY beneficiaries in the district.
Health screening camp was also launched at DH conference Hall, Phek. Dr Shevosa MO DH gave an awareness talk on PMJAY and National Health Protection Mission. Best performing PMAMs was awarded to Tshelhou Doulou (Kezukewe Kra Enhulumi) by the Deputy Commissioner. Beneficiary testimonial were also given by Chekhupa and Nuluhulu (PMJAY) and Velu (NULM).
The programme was chaired by Dr Vethihulu Dy Chief Medical Officer; invocation was pronounced by Rev T Alem Pastor Ao Baptist Church; welcome address was delivered by Dr Lanuakum DVBO and vote of thanks was given by Dr Kehousetuo Kuotsu. Altogether 61 patients have availed the services in the health camp. The programme was attended by ADC, Doctors, Programme Officers, DBs, SHGs, Staffs of social welfare, NULM, Urban, CM and Vertical programs, Colony chairmans, GBs etc.
Zunheboto: The District Health Society, Zunheboto observed the anniversary at District Hospital, Zunheboto. Dr Khehokhu Chishi, Medical Superintendent, DH, Zunheboto in his welcome address encouraged the participants to come forward and work hand in hand and motivated the participants to avail the various schemes provided by the government and make best use of it.
Dr K Shikato Sema, Nodal Officer, Ayushman giving an awareness talk on PMJAY said that it is the world largest health schemes. He stated that so far 20 families have been benefited and around Rs 1.5 lakhs amount have been avail by the patients in Zunheboto.
Around 12000 E- card have been generated so far under Zunheboto and 6 colonies covered in Zunheboto town. Vibo Jakha, District Co-ordinator highlighted a brief outline of PMJAY. Dr Y Aron Muru, SMO chaired the programme. Testimony was given by the beneficiaries followed by an open discussion. Nitoli, Nursing sister, DH gave the benediction. Similar Programmes were also conducted in Aghunato CHC, Akuluto PHC, VK PHC and Suruhoto PHC. BIS drive was also after the programme.
Tuensang: Noksen CDPO, Anti Chang along with the team POHSAN Abhiyaan started a tour from September 7 and conducted several programmes in many villages in the district. Nutrition Day was also conducted at Anganwadi Center Noksen on September 7. Organic farming training was also conducted at Noksen Town on September 2. Anemia screening camp was conducted in PHC Noksen Town.
A Mothers’ meeting was conducted at Noksen Town and convergence meeting and undertaking of Poshan pledge was held on September 14. The team further plans on touring Sangtak, Kumpung, Yonyu and Yokumsang starting from September 24.
Kiphire: A health screening camp was held at District Hospital Kiphire on September 19 with Principal Director, Dr Vikeyie Losu Department of Health & Family Welfare, Nagaland and Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire, Sarita Yadav, IAS.
Dr Vikeyie Losu stated that PMJAY was launched in Nagaland on September 23 2018. He mentioned that about 2.33 lakh poor and vulnerable families in the state are eligible for the scheme. “Till date, we have empanelled 63 hospitals comprising of 59 public and four private hospitals which includes four PHC of Kiphire districts,” he said.
DC Kiphire, Sarita Yadav IAS urged the public availing the scheme to promote it to the people so that it will be beneficial to all sections of society and further assured the Medical Department Kiphire that the District Administration will provide full support and cooperation in fulfulling and promoting health sector in the district.
Dr Kikameren Longkumer, SPO AB- PMJAY, in his address, mentioned that the objective of this celebration is to increase awareness about Ayushman Bharat and reach out to the beneficiaries with information about availing the service. Longkumer said that due to poor connectivity of economic census data and non availability of ration cards coupled with poor internet connectivity, they could enroll only about 32% of the 2.33 lakhs targeted households till date.
“However the scheme could prevent 3255 beneficiaries from the potential risk of impoverishment by providing free medical treatments,” he said. "Now underprivileged people are accessible to quality healthcare not only within the state but can avail medical treatment anywhere in the country from any empanelled hospital," he added.
Peren: In Peren the programme was jointly organized by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Social Welfare & Urban Development, Peren under the aegis of National Health Authority. Before the launching programme, a walkathon was flagged off by DC Peren, wherein, the participants marched from Jalukie town taxi stand to CHC Jalukie.
During the programme, DTO Peren, Dr Supongmenla Walling gave a brief overview about the significance of Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara. DC Peren, Sentiwapang Aier also speaking at the programme said that central schemes are all made for the benefits of general public, and encouraged the medical staff, NGOs and stakeholders to work hard and also spread awareness about the significance of Ayushman Bharat Pakhwara to the people. He urged the beneficiaries to check their eligibility and avail e-card from the empanelled hospitals in order to receive free health services up to an amount of Rs. 5 lakh.
Earlier the programme was presided by Dy. CMO Peren, Dr Yartenla Jamir. Beneficiary testimonial speech was delivered by Sunang Ntung of Jalukie town and facilitation of the best performing PMAM was awarded to Nlangchube Chamlak (CHC Jalukie). Later, BIS Drive and Health Screening Camp was also conducted at Community Health Centre (CHC) Jalukie.
