Nagaland COVID-19: 5 new cases, 16 more recoveries

Nagaland recorded 5 new cases of COVID-19 in the State on June 19, while 16 more patients tested negative in their second test. 


As of June 19, the State had 198 total positive cases, 73 active cases and 125 recoveries, according to data released by the Nagaland Department of Health and Family Welfare. The Department further informed that the recovery rate of the State was 63%. 


The 5 new cases on June 19 included two patients from Mon and Kohima each while one patient was from Dimapur. 


Among the 16 recoveries on the same day, nine patients were from Dimapur and seventeen patients from Kohima.   


As of Friday, 94 patients have recovered from the Dimapur district hospital; 7 from the AR hospital Dimapur; 9 from NHAK; 8 from Chedema COVID-19 Hospital; 2 from Peren CHC; and 5 from Tuensang district hospital.  


During the daily briefing, Nagaland Principal Secretary for Home, Abhijit Sinha meanwhile informed that all the 73 active cases are asymptomatic.


He also stated that all the positive persons are receiving medical care at the designated district COVID-19 hospitals.


As per the distribution of the 198 cases by age, there are 4 cases between 0-17 years, 187 cases between 18-44 years, 5 cases between 45-64 years and 2 cases between 65-74 years. They include 126 male and 72 female patients.


Sinha added that till date, a total of 8,174 samples have been tested. 


The results of 6,989 samples have been received and 1,185 samples are awaited. Out of the 8,174 samples, a total of 5,101 samples have been received at the BSL-3 lab at the Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) till June 19, and a total of 4,479 samples have been tested.


The Principal Secretary also informed that the State Cabinet in its meeting today, received briefings on the overall COVID-19 situation in the State from the Health Department and the Home Department.
