8 more samples sent for testing
 

 

DIMAPUR, APRIL 2 (MExN): Eight more samples from Nagaland were sent for COVID-19 testing on April 2.
As of April 2 evening, 40 samples have been sent and 32 suspected samples have tested negative. Results for the 8 samples sent for testing today are awaited. 

 


The six suspected COVID-19 samples, results for which were awaited as of April 1, have come back negative. The samples, all collected from Dimapur, were sent for testing on March 31. They include the two persons from Dimapur who had attended the TablighiJamaat congregation in Delhi early in March.

 


Planning and Coordination Minister, Neiba Kronu meanwhile informed that another consignment of essential medical equipment and accessories which was flown in from Delhi to Guwahati on April 1 by Indian Airlines has reached Kohima.

 


With regard to availability of food and essential commodities, the situation continues to remain normal. 

 


Meanwhile, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi held a meeting through video conference with all the Chief Ministers to review the COVID -19 situation and stressed on the need for effective implementation of the lockdown and improvement of medical infrastructure. 

 


The PM announced the Pradhan MantriGaribKalyan package concerning insurance scheme for health workers fighting COVID-19 in Government hospitals and health care centres, whereby any health professional who, while treating COVID-19 patients meets with some accident, will be compensated with an amount of Rs. 50 Lakh. 

 


The Nagaland Chief Minister announced that an additional amount of Rs. 10 Lakhs will be compensated for all such workers by the State Government.

 


The Nagaland CM also held a video conference with all the DCs, SPs and CMOs of the 11 Districts.
