Nagaland COVID-19 Update

DIMAPUR, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Directorate of Health and Family Welfare today informed that as of 3:30pm on March 31, a total of 25 samples have been sent from the State for COVID-19 testing.
22 of the samples tested negative while results for 3 more are awaited. This was informed during a briefing by the Nagaland Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, NeibaKronu.
The Minister further informed that 4,704 people including students who have returned from outside the State from March 6 onwards have self-reported to the respective District Surveillance Teams and have been home quarantined, out of which 876 have completed their quarantine.
Meanwhile, the State is set to receive another batch of medical equipment in the form of PPE kits, hand gloves, hand sanitizer, N95 masks, portable ventilators, ICU ventilators, full face masks etc on April 1. The cargo designated for Nagaland was sent from Delhi to Guwahati and will be transported by road to the State tomorrow, the Minister said. The State also received 5,000 litres of Sodium Hypo Chloride, gloves and sanitizers from Guwahati today.
The Minister also informed that 3,905 persons have self-registered in the self-declaration ncovid-19 Nagaland App. However, 1,165 persons have not completed their full details. The Minister appealed to all those who have entered the State after March 6 to self-register in the app with their full details.
In total, 36,494people have been screened in the State, and 32,121 phone calls have also been received through the Health Helpline Numbers.
With regard to essential commodities, the Minister assured that the position of availability of food grains, POL and all other kinds of essential commodities continue to be normal across the State. Further, the District Level Price Monitoring Committees have also been instructed to constantly monitor the price situation and fix the prices of essential commodities along with thestakeholders such as the Chamber of Commerce and Industries and business associations, he added.
The Minister urged people to continue strict adherence to the lockdown measures in force and to stay at home. He asked people to maintain social distancing when venturing out to buy essential goods.
He reiterated that the government has barred all gatherings, including religious congregations during the lockdown period as such mass gatherings have the potential of easily allowing the spread of the virus, thereby putting the lives of many people in serious danger.
The Minister urged all faith based organizations to completely refrain from holding any religious congregation of any kind which may see gatherings of a large number of people during the lockdown.
