Kohima, August 23 (MExN): The Combined Technical Association of Nagaland (CTAN) has demanded the cancellation of a recent special recruitment drive (SRD) by the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department. The drive, announced on August 20, is intended to fill 280 positions but has been criticized by the CTAN for violating regulations.
The CTAN argued that the recruitment drive contravenes NPSC Rule 9(4), which mandates that all posts with a pay band of Rs 5200-20200 and a grade pay of Rs 2800 or more should be requisitioned to the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) for open examination. The association also claimed the drive breaches Article 16 of the Indian Constitution, which ensures equal employment opportunities.
According to CTAN, a 2020 Health and Family Welfare advertisement specifies that appointments should either be temporary for 12 months or through NPSC recruitment, with no promise of regularization. The association is urging the department to cancel the recent order and instead requisition 329 posts to the NPSC/NSSB. These include roles such as Medical Officer, Junior Specialist, and Staff Nurse.
CTAN has cautioned that if their demands are not met, they will take democratic action starting August 26.
