Nagaland GBs appeal for cooperation

Dimapur, April 3 (MExN): The Nagaland GB (Village Chief) Federation on Friday reached out to the masses seeking cooperation and adherence to the government directives with reference to the COVID 19 pandemic.

“We would like to appeal to all our villagers and citizens kindly to abide by the government directives in this crucial time because lapse from any side could be hazardous for all of us,” it said in a press release.

The Federation urged the state government to “make a rush for procurement of testing kits for corona virus in Nagaland.” For faster and effective results, we must no longer depend on other states but must have the equipments of our own, it said. It also requested the government to impart awareness regarding COVID-19 in rural areas and villages through medical agencies so that they can equip themselves to counter the disease.

Appreciating the efforts put in by the government, the medical department, district administration, police department, the frontline health workers as well as colony leaders, despite “Nagaland State being way behind in medical infrastructure,” the NGBF also appealed to the public to “understand the situation and cooperate with authority in all possible manner.”

Further, it also expressed gratitude to all the NGOs and individuals who have come forward to help out daily wagers, migrant workers and those in need.  “We appeal to all to kindly donate for ‘arrangements’ to combat COVID-19,” the press release stated.
