Nagaland Govt revises SOPs for public events

KOHIMA, APRIL 16 (MExN): The Nagaland Government has issued revised SOPs for events as the COVID-19 pandemic renews its surge.

An order from the Home Department directed that social, academic, entertainment, cultural, political, religious functions and gatherings are permitted outside containment zones but shall be limited to 50% of the seating capacity, or 200 persons, whichever is lower.

In open spaces, the upper limit on the gathering shall be 50% of the seating capacity wherever there are seating galleries and in other cases the limit on the gathering will be decided by the size of the ground/venue.

The order added that any public gathering, festivities of any kind shall be kept at the bare minimum and in case the number of persons in the gathering in open spaces is more than 200, prior permission of the concerned DTF must be sought which may depend on local conditions.

It meanwhile asserted that wearing of face masks, maintaining social distance, provision of thermal screening and use of hand wash or sanitiser is mandatory.

The order further stated that any intra-district sports event shall require prior permission from the respective DTF, which shall ensure strict adherence by all concerned of all the SOPs, and depending on local conditions and additional restrictions. In case of bigger or inter-district sports events, the requisite permission and necessary directions will be given by the Home Department.

While theatres, multiplexes and cinema halls are permitted to open outside containment zones, they have been directed to only accommodate 50% of the seating capacity subject to strict adherence of SOPs.
