DIMAPUR, JUNE 19 (MExN): The Unemployed Registered Pharmacists’ Association Nagaland has appealed to the Nagaland State Government to advertise posts of pharmacists.
A press release from the association said that in the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, “existing strengths have been found to be insufficient to cater the ever increasing number of positive cases and suspects.” The association informed that State Government on ground of cadre review had abruptly cut down the existing 490 posts of pharmacists to 309 in 2015 “without proper analysis.”
“This is precisely loss of 181 posts of Pharmacists in Nagaland. Following which, the state government had put a blanket ban on new appointments from 2015 till 2022. Consequently, the posts of Pharmacists were withdrawn from sub centre level,” it pointed out.
It added that this has also rendered many Primary Health Centers, Community Health Centers, and even District Hospitals without the requisite number of pharmacists. It asked the State Government to reinstate the existing number of 490 posts of pharmacists and lift the blanket ban.
