Kohima, August 14 (MExN): The Nagaland State Biodiversity Board (NSBB) organized a two-day State Level Workshop on Access and Benefit Sharing (ABS) from August 13-14 at the Forest Office Complex in Kohima. The event was held under the Forest and Biodiversity Management in the Himalaya (Nagaland) Project (FBMP), funded by KfW.
Dr. Suhas Nimbalkar, a Partner and Consultant in IP & Regulatory Affairs at Eitimo Ventures LLP, Bengaluru, served as the resource person for the workshop. Other notable attendees included Dr. Pankaj Prasad Raturi, Head of Department (HOD) at BRD/DRDC, and C.S. Rana, a Scientist from Dabur India, who attended as guests to explore opportunities for convergence and collaboration. The workshop was hosted by Nand Kishor Agrawal, Chief Technical Advisor (CTA).
The workshop saw participation from 45 representatives from various departments, missions, and institutions. In his welcome address, Supongnukshi, IFS, Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) and Project Director of FBMP, emphasized the importance of the Nagoya Protocol, an international agreement aimed at ensuring the fair sharing of benefits arising from genetic resources and promoting biodiversity conservation.
