Nagaland: Khekiye K Sema resigns from Congress

Dimapur, March 16 (MExN): Former Congress candidate Khekiye K Sema has resigned from the party amidst claims of “nepotism and sycophancy” displayed by the party leadership.

Tendering his resignation through a press release on Wednesday, Sema who contested the 2018 Assembly Election from Ghaspani-II Constituency as a Congress candidate, said that he had joined the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee based on the belief that “INC was and is the only National Party that has withstood the test of time in acknowledging ‘secularism’ as the only preferred road ahead for a country as diverse as India.”

However, he said his desire to continue in the NPCC was ‘rudely shattered’ on the eve of Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Dimapur during the MP election rally in 2019. Without going into details, Sema claimed that on the occasion, the party’s General Secretary had “publically and physically displayed to me his ‘gunda’ underbelly that was insulting, repulsive and disgusting.”

Sema said that he had officially brought the incident to the notice of NPCC President for necessary disciplinary action but the party President “‘promptly’ did nothing to date.”

Stating that such kind of indifferent leadership does not inspire or enhance the image of the party in any manner, he further stated that “As long as the present party leadership continues to encourage nepotism and sycophancy at the cost of sidelining good responsible and upright people within the party…NPC is going nowhere now or ever.”
