Kohima: Nagaland will be launching the national rural drinking water and sanitation awareness week from February 20 to 25. The formal launching programme will take place on February 20 at the Capital Convention Centre Kohima with PHED minister Noke Wangnao as the chief guest. Due to the low awareness in village on issues pertaining to rural drinking water, water security and water conservation, it has been decided by the ministry of drinking water and sanitation to launch this awareness week across India. R. Binchilo Thong, principal secretary PHED will also speak on the occasion. Er Kevisekho Kruse, chief engineer PHED will give the keynote address. Er KG Sumi, director WSSO, PHED will chair the function.
Mokokchung: A series of programme have been chalked out by the department of PHED, Mokokchung Division to be held during the observance of Drinking Water and Sanitation Awareness Week from February 20 to 24.
According to Executive Engineer, PHED Mokokchung Division, N. Yanger Pongen the Week long programme will be launched on 20th February by organizing mass social work in all wards of Mokokchung in the morning and a function will be held at Longkumer Kilem where Deputy Commissioner, Murohu Chotso will address the gathering as the chief guest.

In Chuchuyimlang town, a Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan rally will be organized on February 21 where students from class 5 and above, Adhoc town committee members, Churches, Chuchu town students union and NGOs are informed to participate in the rally. On February 22, Water Quality cum distribution of field testing kits will be conducted at Mongkalemba town for Longchem and Mangkolemba blocks. PHED Mokokchung Division will also be organizing an exposure trip for WATSAN members to Nyampong village under Tuensang district on February 25.
Mon: One-day workshop on national rural drinking water and sanitation awareness was conducted at council hall, Mon on February 18. The programme was organized by the PHED Mon Division and sponsored by the WASSO, PHED Nagaland, Kohima. The resource persons S. Chuba Longchar, consultant on sanitation & hygiene imparted training on sanitation and safe drinking water while Watinaro, Chemist spoke on the importance of water quality. Er. L. Leyang Khiamniungan, Executive Engineer, Mon delivered keynote address. President of the Konyak Students Union (KSU) Loungai Wangnao was the special guest of the programme. Total 55 villages attended the training. Longching, Pump Operator proposed the invocation and Medoseto Kiso, IEC Consultant pronounced the vote of thanks. C. Imli, Sr. Head Assistant chaired the programme.
