DC Dimapur orders total ban of single use plastic
Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): In pursuance of Government Notification, the Deputy Commissioner, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol, with a view to eradicate the menace of plastic and various environmental and ecological challenges posed by rampant use of plastic, informed all concerned that the single use plastic products shall be totally banned within the District with effect from September 18. The products include all plastic carry bags, with or without handles, irrespective of thickness and size; plastic cutlery including plates, plastic cups, straws, stirrers etc; cutlery and other decorative, made of Styrofoam (thermocol); polythene; nylon; poly-vinyl chloride (PVC); poly-propylene and poly-styrene. A DIPR report added that the DC further informed all to abide by the order and defaulters will be penalized as per the provision of law.
SASU seniors’ meet
Kohima, September 11 (MExN): The Southern Angami Students’ Union (SASU) executives will be holding a ‘Seniors’ Meet’ gathering cum picnic on September 14, 11:00 am at Kezocha Local Ground. A press release from the organizing committee informed that it will be “a first of its kind get-together for a better coordination and understanding of one’s leadership towards the progressive upbringing of our society.” The SASU has extended invitation to all the unit executives and senior leaders to attend the meet positively.
NIIT Dimapur Centre conveys Ananta Chaturdashi greetings
Dimapur, September 11 (MExN): NIIT Dimapur Center has conveyed greetings to all the Jains on the occasion of Ananta Chaturdashi on September 12. The Centre in a press release said the festival is being celebrated after the culmination of the celebration of 10 Dharmas - forgiveness, humility, simplicity, inner-healing, truth, austerity, meditation, detachment & celibacy. It further wished that the monks who are fasting completely for 32 days (except one time water a day) & the Jains who are fasting for 16 & 10 days for World Peace may observe their respective fast without any hurdles. Classes at the NIIT center will remain suspended on September 12, it informed.
CM Rio mourns demise of L Poiwang Konyak
Kohima, September 11 (MExN): Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has mourned the demise of L Poiwang Konyak, youngest son of Langto, Chief Angh of Sangsa Village and younger brother of P Paiwang Konyak, Minister for Transport, Civil Aviation & Railways, Land Resources. In a condolence message, Rio said that late Poiwang was serving in the 6th NAP Battalion, Tizit as a Naik and his sudden demise at the young age of 37 leaving behind 3 young children “is heart-breaking.” In this time of sorrow, Rio, with his wife and family and colleagues in the Government conveyed deepest condolences to the members of the bereaved family. “It is our sincere prayer that Almighty God will bestow His divine strength and grace upon you as you deal with the loss of loved one,” the message read and further prayed for the departed soul to rest in eternal peace.
DEO Wokha clarifies
Wokha, September 11 (MExN): The DEO, Wokha has today clarified on the list of District Level Teachers Awardees under Wokha District 2019 as follows – Francis Reben Kikon of Isaiah Ability School; S Mhabeni Ezung of Mt Sinai School; Satish Chandra Tiwari, GHS Sungro; Lithungo Lotha of GHS Nyiro and NOrenboni Lotha of GMS Wokha Town “A”. This was informed by DEO, Wokha for clarification and not as published earlier. It added that this was done on the recommendation of the District Level Education Committee for District Award for the year 2019 in respect of Wokha District.
NAAC team to visit Pfutsero Govt College
Phek, September 11 (MExN): NAAC Peer Team will be visiting Pfutsero Government College (PGC), Phek on September 17 and 18. A team comprising of a Chairman, Member Co-ordinator and member will visit and assess the college. A press release issued by the IQAC, Co-ordinator PGCP stated that NAAC Assessment has become mandatory for all higher education institutions all over India. In its preparation for NAAC Assessment, various stakeholders and the community came forward and rendered their support and contribution, it added.
