Meeting called on tobacco control in Wokha 

Wokha, September 14 (MExN): District Nodal Officer (NTCP), Wokha Dr Meribeni Odyuo has informed that the second quarterly meeting of various committee members of District Tobacco Control Cell, District Level Coordination committee, District Level Enforcement Squad & Flying Squad will be held on September 18 at 11:00 am at the District Hospital Conference Hall, Wokha. The District Tobacco Control Cell, National Tobacco Control Programme, Wokha would like to declare Axis Bank Wokha, Smile Dental Clinic and Dental Centre Wokha with certificates as Tobacco Free establishments. Tobacco Free certificates will also be presented to the already declared Tobacco Free establishments namely Deputy Commissioner Office, Wokha and Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital, Wokha. Therefore, all the various committee members and the concerned establishment representatives are requested to attend the meeting without fail.

 

ANHTU Kma Unit 26th Hindi Diwas

Kohima, September 14 (MExN): The All Nagaland Hindi Teachers Union (ANHTU) Kohima Unit will be celebrating its 26th ‘Hindi Diwas’ on September 18, 11:00 am at Ura Academy Hall Kohima, with Zakienei Khoubve Deputy Director (Hindi) as the key note speaker. A press release from ANHTU Kohima unit has notified all the Hindi teachers serving under Kohima District to attend the celebration without fail. Serious action will be taken against the absentees, it informed.

 

NSCN (IM) welcomes ‘home comers’

Hebron, September 14 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) welcomed six “home comers” belonging to NSCN (Unification)(U) and NNC (Non Accordist) (NA) and were administered the oath of allegiance on September 3 at Central Headquarters, Hebron. This was informed in a press release issued by the MIP Cell, NSCN (IM). The "home comers" includes: M Toshi Lemtur Vice-president, NNC (NA); Sashi Aier Kilonser, NNC (NA); Nungsang Pongen Deputy Kilonser, NNC (NA); Pihoto Kiho, Deputy Kilonser, NSCN (U); Shikupu Sumi, Tatar, NSCN (U) and I Tohoshe Chishi Joint Secretary, NSCN (U).

 

 Dimapur Police apprehends three for extortion

Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): Dimapur Police apprehended three individuals while extorting money from sand laden vehicles at New Field Check Gate area, Dimapur on September 14. The apprehendees were identified as Ahuka Ayemi, a resident of Nagaland gate; Vihokhe Yeptho of Block-3, Thilixu village and  Aloboto Sum of Notun Bosti, Dimapur. As per a press release from Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO, they were collecting money on behalf of All Nagaland Goods Movers Union, NSCN (IM) and NSCN (U). A total of Rs 14,630 was recovered from their possession, and a case was registered at West Police Station, Dimapur, it added.

 

Unclaimed body in District Hospital morgue

Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): One unidentified male (40 years approx) was found lying below flyover near Traffic Zone-I office on September 12. With the assistance of East Police Station personnel, the body was evacuated to District Civil Hospital, Dimapur. However the person later died on September 14 while undergoing medical treatment. This was informed in a press release issued by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police/PRO. On completion of all legal formalities, the dead body was shifted to District Hospital morgue for post mortem examination, it informed. It has requested the claimant/relatives/ friends of the deceased to contact Officer-in-Charge East Police Station, Dimapur.
