
Biodiversity conservation prog at Seithekie ‘A’ held
Dimapur, February 19 (MExN): Mascotte Development Society, Dimapur organized a biodiversity conservation programme at Seithekie ‘A’ on February 17 under the theme “National Environment Awareness Campaign 2013-14” sponsored by Nagaland Pollution Control Board and Ministry of Environment & Forests, GoI., New Delhi. The programme discussed good production practices like biodiversity conservation in-situ & ex-situ (from forest to my backyard); Disciplines: regulation on ground water exploitation, tree cutting, local contribution; Sustainable land husbandry, agriculture, livestock and CPRs management; Sustainable livelihoods link to the 5 capitals and the LM3; Equity–sharing social and technology innovations–creation of village level water markets. This was stated in a press release issued by Mascotte Development Society President Wekhape Letro.
DSE designates PIOs, APIOs
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): In pursuance to the provisions of the Right to Information Act, 2005, the Directorate of School Education, Nagaland has designated four officers as Public Information Officers (PIOs) and Assistant Public Officers (APIOs) under its establishment. All the RTI applicants may be submitted to the concerned officers during office hours, according to a release issued by Kesonyu Yhome, principal director, directorate of school education. The designated officers included Y. Vihoshe Sema, joint director EL/SE- PIO, Kelhouphilie Kire, joint director HSS- PIO, Wonthungo, deputy director HSS- APIO and Ruovihulie Angami, deputy director EL/SE- APIO.
Nagaland pensioners’ association informs
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): The Nagaland Pensioners’ Association (NPA) informed all the pensioners and family pensioners that the state government had introduced issued of ID Card- ‘D’ to all Nagaland state pensioners and family pensioners for drawal of pension. The validity of the card is to be for a period of one year and to be renewed for each subsequent year. In this, the Association requested all pensioners/family pensioners to renew their ID Card- ‘D’ for the year 2014 at an early date to avoid hardship. Further, it informed all the new pensioners/family pensioners to obtain their ID Card ‘D’ from their respective president District/Sub Unit pensioner Association. As per the prescribed procedure, possession of ID Card- ‘D’ for drawal of pension is compulsory, the Association general secretary S. Daikho said in a release today. All treasury officers/sub treasury officers/banks have been informed to ensure that the pensioner/family pensioners posses duly renewed ID Card- ‘D’ without which payment be refused, the Association said adding that ‘this is considered necessary so as to avoid release of irregular and inadmissible pension payment.’
NSCW seminar on legal awareness
Kohima, February 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSCW) in collaboration with National Commission for Women is organizing a one-day seminar on legal awareness on marriage, divorce and inheritance and women & health- HIV/AIDS on February 25 at Wokha Town Hall at 10: 00 AM. The Commission requested Lotha apex leaders- Kyong Hoho, Kyong Eloe Hoho, Kyong Students’ Union and VCC to participate in the said programme. This was stated in a release issued by NSCW secretary Motsuthung Lotha.
Second round of IPPI on Feb 23
Mokokchung, February 19 (DIPR): The second round of Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization programme will be conducted in Mokokchung district on February 23 (Sunday) 2014 with a renewed effort to completely eradicate polio from the district. A meeting under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung was held on February 13 to ensure that all children in the district between 0-5 years are covered with oral police vaccine on the occasion irrespective of their earlier polio status. Chief Medical Officer, Mokokchung in an appeal called upon parents to ensure that their children are administered 2 polio drops at the usual Polio booths. The CMO also called upon all concerned citizens to cooperate with the Health department to make this massive health exercise a success. Mobilization of health workers and volunteers are being made for the ensuing IPPI programme.
