NPCB holds seminar on plastic pollution
Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB), the Nodal Agency for the National Green Corps (Eco Club) programme in Nagaland in collaboration with its ENVIS Cell organized an online seminar on plastic pollution with students and teachers of various schools in Nagaland October 9. The programme was organized keeping in line with the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change’s observation of Iconic Week in commemoration of 75 years of India’s Independence (Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav) from October 4 to10. The resource persons were Er Aghali A Swu, Environmental Engineer, NPCB and Sentinaro, Scientific Assistant, NPCB. During the event, the resource persons highlighted the different issues related to use of plastic, its adverse effect on human health, wildlife, marine life and the environment and also educated students and teachers on ways to minimize the use of plastic by citing alternate solutions so as to reduce the adverse effects on the environment.
Excise recovers suspected heroin
Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Excise Narcotic Cell enforcement duty party manning the inter-state check gate at Khuzama while undertaking routine checking intercepted a vehicle bearing Regd No NL O7H 2175 and recovered 240 grams of (suspected) heroin on October 7. An update from S Chanlei Angh, Dy Commissioner of Excise (NC), Nagaland stated that in this connection one Kone Mary (45) was arrested and sent to judicial custody booked under relevant section of NDPS Act 1985. The case is presently under active investigation. The duty party was led by Nokcha AIE, along with Hd Constable Anglong, Constables Kamnei, Kiyakhrielie, Tokaho, Azily and L Merela.
Two cadres arrested in Kiphire
Kohima, October 9 (MExN): Based on a specific input Security Forces in a joint operation with Police apprehend two cadres, one each of Niki Sumi Group and FGN at Kiphire Town on October 7. During the joint operation, Lt Col Sumit K Sharma PRO (Def) Kohima in a press release stated that the team recovered one Motor bike, one point 38 Pistol with magazine and three live rounds of point 38 ammunitions. The apprehended individuals along with recovered items have been handed over to Kiphire Police Station, Kiphire for further investigation, Sharma stated.
Vehicle recovered from Dimapur
Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The Town Command Unit, Naga Army, GPRN/NSCN has recovered a Nissan Terrano car (White colour) bearing Engine No. E045070 and Chassis No. MDHHSNAWSDB002982 from Dimapur town and kept it for claimant and authentication. Therefore, MIP, GPRN/NSCN has informed genuine owner of the vehicle along with all original documents is informed to enquire through contact no. 8729800572 and claim the same within seven day time.
Two-wheeler recovered
Dimapur, October 9 (MExN): The UT of NSCN (IM) has recovered a two wheeler-TVS Apache 160 bearing chassis number- MD637AE72J2E14323 and Engine number- AE7EJ2913850. Therefore, John M Vim, UT Secretary, NSCN (IM) in a press release has requested the rightful owner is to claim it by producing the original documents within seven days from the date of this publication.
