FGN condoles passing of Enoli Ngutono Chase

Kohima, February 25 (MExN): The Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has condoled the demise of Enoli Ngutono Chase, the President of the Angami Women Organisation, Naga National Council, on February 23. Late Ngutono was the daughter of Late Niyiekho Chase from Khonoma Village.
In a message received here, Kedahge General (Retired) Viyalie Metha, on his own behalf and that of the FGN, conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and relatives of the late Ngutono.
The message informed that late Ngutono was one of the representative members of the Naga Goodwill Mission to Assam in 1953.
Though an octogenarian, she held the post of President of the Angami Women Organisation and served the nation until her last breath, it said.
Late Ngutono was a recipient of the ‘National Service Award A,’ and the vacuum created by her death is a great loss for the nation, which will be difficult to fill, it added. 
However, her patriotic deeds and sacrificial services rendered to the nation shall always remain alive in the history of the Naga nation, the FGN message stated. It further prayed for peace and solace for the bereaved family members, relatives, and loved ones, and wished the departed soul eternal rest in peace.

NLA legislators meeting on March 1

Kohima, February 25 (MExN): In view of the upcoming 6th session of the 14th Nagaland Legislative Assembly from March 3, Nagaland’s Parliamentary Affairs & Power Minister KG Kenye has called for a meeting of all the 60 legislators of the 14th House of the NLA on March 1 at 11:00 AM in the State Banquet Hall, Kohima. All the members have been requested to attend the said meeting positively. Meanwhile, the minister also for called for a meeting of all the legislators of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on March 1 at State Banquet Hall Kohima at 10:00 AM.

NPCB informs on registration in Centralised EPR Portal

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has notified the packaged drinking water plants, compostable plastic carry bags manufacturers, Importer of all imported plastic packaging and/or plastic packaging of imported products, Brand Owners and plastic waste processing units operating in the state of Nagaland to apply for registration in the Centralized EPR Portal developed by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) which can be accessed through CPCB website cpcb.nic.in (go to Important Links: Registration of PIBOs and PWPs under PWM Rules).
NPCB, Member Secretary K Hukato Chishi in a press release stated that as per provision 18 notified through Amendments to Plastic Waste Management Rules dated July 06, 2022, ‘The Environmental Compensation shall be levied based upon polluter pays principle, on persons who are not complying with the provisions of these rules, as per guidelines notified by the Central Pollution Control Board.’

Pungro: PDVOU holds general session

Pungro, February 25 (MExN): The Pungro Private Drivers’ & Vehicle Owners’ Union (PDVOU) conducted its 16th general session on February 25 in Pungro Town.
Addressing the occasion, the Guest Speaker and Senior SDEO (Retired) Hosito Elias noted that the relationship between drivers and owners was akin to parents taking care of their children. 
By taking care of the vehicles, both the owners and drivers would maintain cordial relationships, he said.
Meanwhile, Extra Assistant Commissioner Pungro Yitachu Thurr stressed the importance of safety rules at the event. He also distributed helmets and requested the union to support and assist the administration for the well-being of the community under Pungro, informed the PDVOU in a press release.The session also featured a presidential address by PDVOU President Thronghokiu and short speeches by Shahoto, President of the Pungro Sub-Division GB’s Union; Tsuyihba, President of the Pungro Area College Students’ Union; and Throngkila, President of the Yimkhiung Liberü Arihako Pungro Unit.

NSCN (IM) lauds SDSA’s ‘vigilance’

Dimapur, February 25 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has lauded the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) for being "vigilant and courageous in the face of suspicious movements within Naga jurisdiction."
Such efforts, including working at odd hours, staying alert, and making the Naga areas "safer from intrusion by anti-Naga elements," are exemplary, stated a press release from the MIP, NSCN (IM). It further alleged that these "suspicious movements" were being carried out "in collusion" with the Assam Rifles.
The release claimed that on the night of February 22, the Assam Rifles were caught engaging in "unethical conduct" by escorting Kuki National Front (P) cadres, led by General Secretary Aron Kipgen.
The NSCN (IM) also accused the Assam Rifles of having an "unholy nexus with the Kuki militants" and assisting them in various ways, including transporting illegal immigrants and providing all sorts of help to the KNA(B).
To this end, the NSCN (IM) asserted that the SDSA was "watchful enough to keep their vigilant eyes open and seize every passing opportunity to report anything suspicious and expose the truth."

Electrical Dept cautions heavy consumers in Tizit

TIZIT, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The Electrical Department Tizit has issued a caution to heavy power consumers operating machinery beyond permissible hours. This has been causing line damage and transformer overloading, resulting in unstable power supply for the general public.
In a circular, Junior Engineer of Electrical, Er James K. Ramchem instructed all workshops, fabrication units, mills, and other heavy consumers to adhere to the following working hours- from 9 AM to 5 PM during the summer months and from 9 AM to 4 PM during winter.
Failure to comply with these hours may result in penalties or the suspension of load sanctions, as determined by the competent authority.

Rock blasting on Noklak-Nokhu road

NOKLAK, FEBRUARY 25 (MExN): The District Administration, Noklak has announced that M/S Naagaamii Infractech Pvt Ltd will be conducting rock blasting on the Noklak-Nokhu Road (Old alignment) from February 25 to March 1, 2025.
During this period, public and traffic movement on the affected stretch will be restricted from 8 AM to 5 PM to ensure safety and smooth progress of the work. The road will remain open for traffic at all other times.
Informing this, a DIPR report stated that the company is required to adhere to the relevant regulations under the Explosive Act/Rule, 2008. Additionally, it will be held responsible for any damage to life or property resulting from the blasting activities.
Commuters have been advised to use the Noklak-Nokhu road (New alignment) as an alternative route during the scheduled blasting period.
